Line Filler Review

This is an extremely expensive product for what it offers.

It provides some hydration, but not enough for me to classify it as a product that hydrates the skin well.
It has some anti-ageing benefits – it should be noted that the ingredient used for this benefit offers the lowest benefit level in its class of ingredients. Hence, it is important to remember that it offers only ‘some’ anti-ageing benefits.

It adds shine and brightens skin – but on a very surface level – a temporary benefit.

Not sure why this product is at such a high price for its very few benefits?

Hydration

The product has two powerful humectants: glycerin and sodium hyaluronate. These two, however, are not at the top of the ingredient list. They are bit down the list – meaning less amount is used.

Humectants are water magnets. They add hydration to the skin.

The product also has some emollients and an occlusive in shea butter. These ingredients seal the hydration and reduce the evaporation of hydration from the skin into the atmosphere.

Hydrated skin is soft and plump.

Well-ageing

Retinyl palmitate in the product boosts collagen production.

Collagen keeps skin tight and firm.

It should be noted that retinyl palmitate is the least effective in its class of anti-ageing ingredients.

Brighten

Further down the ingredient list, it has some antioxidants. Antioxidants brighten the skin.

Shine

It has ingredients that absorb excess oil from the skin and add some shine to the face.
The effect of these ingredients is only temporary. Will add the effects s long as its on the skin – and once again, the effect is gone too.

Ingredient 5 – Ethylhexyl Palmitate

Function: Emollient

Softens and smoothens the skin.

Ingredient 6 – Glycerin

Function: Humectant

Glycerin is a humectant. Humectants are water magnets. They attract water. They are like a sponge to water.

When applied on the skin’s surface, glycerin draws water vapour from the atmosphere to the skin.

Hydrated skin is plump and firm.

Soft mineral. Extracted from talc rocks. Absorbs excess oil. Reduces the shine that excess oil can cause.

Ingredient 9 – Butyrospermum Parkii(Shea)Butter

Function: Occlusive (keeps the skin hydrated)

Extracted from the kernels of the fruit of the shea tree. It forms a protective layer on the skin, seals the water in, and prevents water from the skin’s surface from evaporating into the atmosphere.

Ingredient 10 – C12-20 Acid Peg-8 Ester

Function: Stabiliser, Emulsifier

A stabiliser aids in emulsion and increases the shelf life of the product.

Keeps the oil-based and water-based ingredients together.

A quick note on other ingredients

These ingredients are all further down the ingredient list. So the amount used in the product is less. The amount of an ingredient used reduces as we go down the ingredient list. And for most functional ingredients, when used at lower rates, their effect won’t be the same as when used at higher rates.

It is important to remember that in most skincare products when it comes to how much its ingredients help the skin, only the first 5 ingredients matter the most. After about the 7th ingredient, how much the ingredient can help the skin reduces significantly.

It contains dimethicone and jojoba oil, which soften and smooth the skin. Alumina and titanium dioxide absorb excess oil and add a good shine to the face.

It has retinyl palmitate. This ingredient has a well-ageing (anti-ageing) effect. It boosts collagen production and reduces fine lines and wrinkles. Retinyl Palmitate belongs to the category of anti-aging ingredients that come under retinol and its related ingredients. In this category of anti-ageing ingredients, Retinyl Palmitate is the least effective.

It also contains tocopheryl acetate, tocopherol, and ascorbyl palmitate—all three are antioxidants that will brighten the skin. Only a very small percentage of these ingredients is used in the product.

It has sodium hyaluronate, which is a good humectant. It hydrates the skin.
